Dr. Lizete Valdmanis
Dr. Lizete knew from a young age that she wanted to devote her life to care for our furry friends. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2008, Dr. Lizete worked at leading veterinary clinics in the GTA. She dove deeper into small animal medicine through a veterinary internship at the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital in 2015. Throughout her eleven-year tenure in general practice, Dr. Lizete’s heart gravitated towards caring for senior pets and those needing palliative care.
In 2019, she found her niche with a leading veterinary hospice group in Toronto, working alongside a like-minded team to support the health of aging pets. Dr. Lizete’s commitment to this field led her to earn the Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian (CHPV) credential through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. This certification equips her with specialized knowledge to better assist pets and their caregivers on their end-of-life journey.
Originally from Dundas, Dr. Lizete moved back to her ‘roots’ in beautiful Hamilton in 2022 where she shares her home with her partner, Christopher. Outside of work, Dr. Lizete is involved with numerous animal rescue groups and pet fostering. She is also actively involved in the Canadian Latvian community and currently leads a Latvian folk dancing group in Hamilton. When she’s not dancing or helping animals, you can usually find her outdoors on a hike, on a bike, in a canoe, or skiing.
